I wrote and managed the launch press release for Filmborn™, a mobile app by Mastin Labs designed to bring the beauty and discipline of analog photography to digital creatives. My role included positioning the app for press coverage by articulating its unique value—true-to-film presets, educational tools, and hybrid photography workflows—all in a clean, mobile-native format. The release emphasized both function and philosophy, aimed at hobbyists and professionals alike. It helped establish Filmborn™ as a serious tool for serious photographers, resulting in strong App Store traction and early buzz across photography communities.

Filmborn™ is an iPhone app that brings the rich timelessness of film to mobile photography. 


UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL SEPTEMBER 20, 2016 -- Seattle, WA -- With the belief that the best camera is the one with you, and the rise of mobile phones equipped with high quality cameras, comes Filmborn™. Mastin Lab’s latest project takes hybrid photography further, bringing the rich history and technique of traditional analog photography to the iPhone. 


At Mastin Labs our goal is not to replace film, but introduce a new generation of photographers of all levels to its beauty and timelessness through true-to-film Lightroom presets. Our hope is that people unfamiliar with the look of real film will fall in love with it, helping to keep film photography alive through hybrid photography. A Hybrid photographer shoots film along with digital, matching their digital photos so closely to film they are basically indistinguishable from the real thing while utilizing the practical applications of digital photography.

With an upgraded live shooting mode, a darkroom with true-to-film presets and advanced editing features as well as an enhanced photo library with custom functionality, Filmborn™ users will find their native iPhone camera obsolete. 


Professional and amateur photographers alike will appreciate the clean, easy to use interface. The Filmborn™ app is designed to bridge the analog history of film photography experience with its digital future.


Filmborn™ is available to the public September 20, 2016 in the Apple App Store and supported on the iPhone 5s through iPhone 6s Plus.
